Pierce Brosnan’s Daughter, Charlotte, Dies Of Ovarian Cancer


Pierce Brosnan’s daughter, Charlotte, died on Friday, June 28 after a three-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was just 41 years old.

“Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity,” Brosnan announced in a statement obtained by People magazine Monday. “Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.”

The actor had been filming an upcoming thriller flick, “November Man,” in Eastern Europe, but flew to the U.K. to be by his daughter’s side, according to the Telegraph. She passed away surrounded by loved ones, including her husband and two children, ages 14 and 8.

Charlotte’s mother, Cassandra Harris, was Brosnan’s first wife. The “007” star adopted Charlotte and her brother, Christopher, after their biological father died, according to the Telegraph. Harris died of ovarian cancer in 1991. Her mother also died of the disease.

In an interview with the Daily Mail in March, Brosnan talked about losing Harris to cancer when discussing his film “Love Is All You Need.” The film is about a widower who falls in love with a woman battling the disease and the Ireland native was able to draw parallels between the story and his own life.

“I went through it all, very publicly. Such things draw a mark across your heart and it’s always a part of your life. To watch someone you love have their life eaten away – bit by bit, by this insidious and horrid disease – becomes an indelible part of your psyche,” he said. “It certainly did for me and, of course, when I received this script, the challenge of playing this part was not lost on me.”

Other stars offered their condolences to the “James Bond” actor.

There are a number of reasons it’s important to get adequate amounts of folic acid. Perhaps most importantly, cellular growth and regeneration. A recent article from the New York Times named folic acid one of the most, “luscious micronutrients” found in foods and multiple studies suggest a lack of folic acid may lead to mental conditions such as depression.

Spinach Folic Acid Food

1. Dark Leafy Greens

It should come as no surprise that one of the planet’s healthiest foods is also one of the highest in folate. For an immediate boost in folic acid, consider adding more spinach, collard greens, kale, turnip greens and romaine lettuce into your daily diet. Just one large plate of these delicious leafy greens can provide you with almost all of your daily needs for folic acid.

Below is a short list of leafy greens that are high in folic acid.

 

  • Spinach — 1 cup = 263 mcg of folate (65% DV)
  • Collard Greens — 1 cup = 177 mcg of folate (44% DV)

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water–best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

Rao of American Health Foundation, Valhalla, NY believes that while COX-2 inhibitor drugs battle the enzyme, the curcurmin element in turmeric prevents even the formation of the enzyme. Consider the implication of ‘turmeric patent’ #5,401,504. If an expatriate Indian in America sprinkles turmeric powder — just as her ancestors in India have done for centuries– on her child’s scrape, she would in fact be infringing US patent laws and was open to prosecution.

They also found that women who carried the AAV2 virus and human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes cervical cancer, had a lower propensity to develop cervical cancer.

When combined in a lab recently, AAV2 eradicated all the breast cancer cells “within seven days,” according to researchers. Better still, it proved capable of wiping out cancer cells at multiple stages, negating the need for differing treatments used today.

So, what do we mean by Dis-ease

Sickness/Disease is a crisis instituted by the body itself. It is always remedial.

The body for the purpose of cleansing, repair and restoration causes & conducts diseases. Much like house cleaning, sickness infect PURIFIES the body, eliminating toxins and restoring normal body balance. 

Disease has a single cause – TOXIC ACCUMULATION (Toxemia /Toxics). This happens when the body can no longer cope with toxic build up.

Toxins accumulate from

                              (i)  Un-expelled body wastes.

(ii)   Wrong foods

                    (iii)  Unhealthy life styles. 

Disease affects the whole body and not just a part. The fact that the symptoms are noticeable only in a particular organ does not mean that the rest of the body is unaffected. 

In short, everything that affects any part of the body affects the WHOLE ORGANISM

Body intelligence alone CREATES the sickness; redirecting its energies to cope with an abnormal situation, within the body.

Neither viruses nor bacteria cause disease. They are normal to the body, working symbiotically within the body, to get rid of harmful wastes. Viruses are infect toxic wastes – or dead decomposed cell debris. 

It is a misconception that we need to “FIGHT” diseases. For, it will not occur, unless it is created/caused. By maintaining the simple, basic needs of life, which build and sustain health (wholesome, natural living) the symptoms of disease itself will disappear.

Sickness is really a call – a signal from within the cells of our body. Sickness is our body’s way of telling us, that “stop-listen-and take a break”

There are two kinds of sickness.

ACUTE OR CONSTRUCTIVE SICKNESS 

Such as colds, coughs, fevers, vomiting, diaoherra, rashes, itches, poxes, measles. These illnesses are the body’s attempt to cleanse itself. To throw away the toxins in an intensive, healing manner. Normally, the body gets rid of its toxins and wastes through the eliminatory systems. But, when the toxic overload is too much, the body diverts these toxins to some other organs that can handle it. It is ironical really, that what is infect an effort at cleansing and healing – we have come to regard as illness and disease.

  DESTRUCTIVE OR DEGENERATIVE DISEASE 

Like cancer, asthma, diabetes, Aids and other chronic ailments. These illnesses are caused due to a long history of suppression. The suppression being due to palliative drugs and medicines. Medicines do suppress symptoms – but that’s all they do. They do not eliminate the cause of illness. An unhealthy lifestyle further perpetuates the illness.

All toxins thereby accumulate (without being expelled) at an average, for about 30-40 years (!) and later erupts as “sickness”, most often; we ignore the small signals, and then are forced to tackle the degenerative, chronic illnesses.

7 Cancers You Can Ward Off with Exercise


A cancer diagnosis can be a devastating event — but some may also be preventable. In fact, an estimated half of all cancer deaths are avoidable by practicing healthy lifestyle habits, according to the American Cancer Society.

One of the most potent cancer-fighting weapons is exercise. While the benefits of a regular fitness program include keeping the pounds off, improving blood pressure and mental outlook, exercise can also halt the onset of some diseases. Several studies have shown that physical activity is linked with decreased risk of some cancers, particularly breast and colon cancer.

It is never too late to begin a fitness program, said Dr. Priscilla Furth, a professor of oncology at Georgetown University Medical Center’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“The good news is that it doesn’t matter [when you begin], in that you will see a benefit from exercise at whatever age you are,” Furth said.

Here are seven cancers that scientific research has shown can be stalled by exercise:

Endometrial cancer

Women who exercised for 150 minutes a week or more had a 34 percent lower risk of endometrial cancer (a cancer that begins in the lining of the uterus) than those who weren’t active, researchers from the Yale School of Public Health reported this week at the Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Conference.

The researchers also found women with a body mass index (BMI) below 25 had a 73 percent reduced risk, compared with inactive women whose BMI was above 25. People with a BMI of over 25 are considered overweight.

Colorectal cancer

People who followed healthy lifestyle habits, including exercising for more than 30 minutes daily, lowered their risk of colorectal cancer, according to a study published online in October in the British Medical Journal.

In fact, 23 percent of colorectal cancers were preventable, had study participants adhered to the five lifestyle recommendations, according to researchers from the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology in Copenhagen. The study was based on a survey of 55,489 men and women between the ages of 50 and 64, who were followed for almost a ten-year period.

Prostate cancer

Though several studies were inconclusive, some findings suggest a link between physical activity and a reduced risk of aggressive prostate cancer.

Men who had regular recreational exercise showed a lower risk of developing advanced prostate cancer or dying from the disease, compared with those who reported no physical activity, according to a 2006 study in the International Journal of Cancer. And a 2005 study of Chinese men in the European Journal of Epidemiology showed moderate exercise may shield against prostate cancer.

Furth advises personalizing an exercise routine. Pick an activity that you enjoy doing, then focus on intensity, she said.

“It is not so much what you are doing but how intense you’re doing it,” she said. “You can do some vigorous gardening, and you’re out there working really hard, digging.  Alternatively, you could be going out running so slowly you never even get you heart rate up.”

Breast cancer

Women who had a family history of breast cancer reduced their risk by one-fourth by doing 20 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity at least five times a week, along with maintaining a healthy lifestyle in other ways, according to a study published in October in the journal Breast Cancer Research.

Even ex-couch potatoes can reap immediate anti-cancer rewards: postmenopausal women who gave up their sedentary ways and engaged in a moderate- to vigorous- intensity exercise program showed changes in hormone and protein levels consistent with a reduced risk of breast cancer, according to a study published online in February in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

Some findings suggest that starting an exercise program during adolescence may delay the onset of breast cancer for women who may carry a mutation in their BRCA genes (which are associated with an increased risk for the disease), but it doesn’t prevent the disease from developing, Furth said.

Lung cancer

Exercise may reduce the risk of lung cancer for current or former smokers.

University of Minnesota researchers gave questionnaires to 36,929 cancer-free women from Iowa, and followed the participants for 16 years. They found that women with high exercise levels were less likely to develop lung cancer than those who reported low exercise levels, according their 2006 study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention.

And men and women who participated in moderate and vigorous activities showed a reduced of lung cancer, especially those with low or medium body mass index, and smokers, according to a 2003 study in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

Ovarian cancer

Though additional studies are needed, some evidence suggests a link between exercise and a reduced risk of epithelial ovarian cancer (cancer that is found in the cells on the surface of the ovary). Women who engage in high-intensity activity most often had a reduced risk of invasive ovarian cancer compared to women who reported no regular physical activity, according to a study published in April in the journal Cancer Causes & Control.

Furth’s advice to those beginning an exercise program: begin at a low intensity, and gradually work your way up to a moderate level. “What you are aiming for is a cardiovascular workout that really gets your pulse up and gets you sweating,” she said.

Gastric cancer

People who reported at least a moderate level of recreational physical activity had a 50 percent reduced risk of gastric cancer, according to a 2008 study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention.

People who did strenuous physical activity throughout their lifetime also had a decreased risk of incident stomach cancer, according to a 2007 study in the European Journal of Cancer. Cancer Care Ontario researchers found an estimated 20 to 40 percent reduced risk of stomach cancer in those who did strenuous exercise more than three times a week compared with those who exercised less than once a month.

Still, other studies are inconsistent about the link between gastric cancer risk and exercise, and differ in their results based on factors such as diet, body mass index and height.
