Girl gang-raped, filmed and thrown out of moving car in Punjab

Another incident of gang-rape came to light in north India when a woman was thrown out of a moving car after being forced upon for two days in Punjab.

A man and two women kidnapped the victim, who had gone to Chandigarh for a job interview, on Friday (January 18) on the pretext of asking directions, after which she was drugged and raped at a deserted location.

The accused then drugged her again and threw her out of a moving car near Bathinda on Sunday (January 20), where she was found and taken to a local hospital.

The traumatised victim recounted the horror she had faced, alleging that two women had helped the rapists.

“I had just got off at the bus stand in Sector-43, Chandigarh, when a man approached me asking for help with an address. As I started telling him, two women dragged me into their car and gave me an injection after which I lost consciousness. I do not know where they took me, but the next day I was raped and they made a video of it,” she said.

Bathinda’s Superintendent of Police, Dharamveer Singh, said that the victim’s statement had been recorded and a probe has been initiated.

“A man named Rohitash found her on the roadside near Bathinda. She said that she had gone for an interview on January 18, and had been kidnapped and kept in captivity for two days, after which she had been thrown from a car. She has been admitted to the hospital and her statement has been recorded. She has alleged rape and the doctors are examining her,” Singh said

The incident is the second gangrape reported from Punjab this month, the first one being of a 30 year-old woman who was abducted by a bus driver and his conductor, and raped by them and their accomplices

Anti-rape agitations and protests had broken out across India in December, after the brutal gang-rape of a 23 year-old on a moving bus in New Delhi, who died a fortnight after the incident.

Pakistan groups hold candle light vigil for Delhi gang-rape victim

Members of Pakistani civil society groups held a candle light vigil in the capital to express outrage at the gang-rape of a young woman in India and to show solidarity with Indian civil society’s demand for stronger laws to punish rapists.

The protesters lit candles and shouted slogans like “We show solidarity with women in India” and “We will stand up for women everywhere”.

A number of passers-by joined the gathering at Super Market in the heart of Islamabad last evening and expressed grief at the gang rape that triggered protests across India.

The vigil was organised by the Potohar Organization of Development Advocacy, Sisters Trust Pakistan and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.

Several persons who addressed the gathering demanded the death penalty for rapists while others favoured strict punishment, including life imprisonment.

“Violence against women in any part of the world diminishes all of us. Therefore we are here to show solidarity with the women of India and to express our resolve to end violence against all women,” Sameena Nazir, director of Potohar Organization of Development Advocacy, was quoted as saying by the media.

The civil society groups will continue to raise their voice whenever there is violence against women in Pakistan, India or anywhere in the world.

“The media in India and Pakistan must play its role in stopping violence against women,” she said.

Rehana Hashmi, president of Sisters Trust Pakistan, said there were no borders in showing solidarity for women’s rights.

“We strongly condemn the brutal violence against the female medical student in India and demand strict punishment for those who committed or supported this crime,” she said.

Poet and rights activist Harris Khalique said: “After this barbaric incident, we need to question where are the values of Sufism, Buddism and non-violence that India and Pakistan always advocate”.

Rukhshinda Parveen from the NGO Rakshi said societies must stop blaming women for cases of violence against them.

“Men and boys need to be educated that women’s bodies are not commodities and all women are worth respect, no matter what dress they wear or how they look,” she said.

The gathering observed a moment of silence for the victim of the gang-rape in India and demanded a law on domestic violence against women in Pakistan.

Note : Who said Pakistan is our Enemy Country, People are divided only because of the inefficient politicians .. this happened in the heart of Islamabad and they lit candles for their sisters in India.

Delhi gang-rape: PM’s wife expresses outrage, calls for severe punishment

The prime minister’s wife Gursharan Kaur on Monday joined the people in expressing outrage over the gang-rape of a young girl and said severe punishment should be meted out to the culprits.

She, at the same time, said any protest against the “ghastly” crime should be peaceful as it would yield more results than violent demonstrations.

The December 16 incident in a moving bus in Delhi was a “very bad incident” and that she was at loss of words in expressing her condemnation, she said.

“We all are very sad at this incident but if they (protests) are conducted in a peaceful manner, they will yield more results,” Kaur told reporters on the sidelines of the release of a book Sikh Heritage Ethos and Relics in Delhi.

“This is a horrible crime…Such incident need to be condemned in the strongest possible way,” she said.

Kaur said severe punishment needed to be handed down to the accused and that there was a need for fast-track courts to deal with such cases.

Delhi gang-rape: ‘Confident rapists carried on with normal work after crime’

The six men, who allegedly gang-raped a young girl in a moving bus in Delhi on Sunday, were apparently so confident they will not be caught that the assailants carried on with their routine chores the next day while one brought back the vehicle to his house.

But luck ran out for the men within 24 hours as police, who were aided by the description provided by the victims about the vehicle, zeroed in on them and even arresting one from Rajasthan where he was in hiding.

Just before raping the 23-year-old para-medical student in a moving bus on Sunday night and beating her male friend who tried to protect her, the gang of six men, two of them still absconding, looted a carpenter by providing him a lift in the bus.

These details that emerged during the ongoing probe into the dastardly crime were given by Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar at a news conference on Tuesday.

The arrested have been identified as driver Ram Singh, his brother Mukesh, Pawan, a fruit seller, and Vinay, an assistant instructor in a gymnasium. Two persons Akshay Thakur and Raju are still on the run.

“Pawan and Vinay went back to their normal vocations and pretended nothing happened while Ram Singh and Akshay took the bus to Noida in the early hours of Monday to avoid being caught.

“But later Ram Singh thought nothing would happen and brought the vehicle back to R K Puram where it was detected on secret information and while all similar vehicles were being checked,” Kumar said.

Just before heading for a joyride, he said, they had a party. Ram Singh and his helper Akshay had cooked chicken and had a small party along with his younger brother Mukesh, also a driver-cum-cleaner and staying in the same neighbourhood.

“They decided to go for a joy ride and have fun while picking some extra bucks from giving lift to people so that more drinks can be bought,” Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said.
